Easter Egg Hunt Bust

I took the kids out to a city Easter Egg Hunt this morning. We were there for the countdown and then each age group got to go in and get as many eggs as they could. Here's what we ended up with. Gavin: 6, Carson: 9, Cambria: 0. Yes, she got none. I was a little bit annoyed and her feelings were a little bit hurt. She didn't cry, but I could tell that she was really sad. I was mad because there were kids there with like 25 eggs in their baskets and the moms were saying, "Good job," when they could clearly see that there were lots of kids with none. Come on people, set a good example for your kids and make them share. I would've. Gavin saw that she had none and dumped all his into her basket. At least he has good manners.

This is a bit of a situation.

I got the kids' baskets out of storage today and asked them to empty out the grass so they could go out to the Easter Egg Hunt. Gavin said, "Mommy, there's an egg in here." I replied, "That's ok, just set it to the side with the other plastic eggs." He said, "No, it's a real one." Um, nasty...nay, SUPER nasty. I can't believe we missed that. Gross, that's the only other word I have right now. Gross.

Easter eggstravaganza

We did it. We colored eggs without Dad. I do not find enjoyment in coloring eggs at all. That's all Clint's thing. Well, he's not here and the kids would not let it slip by. So I sucked it up and made it happen.

I shower for the suspense.

What does this have to do with a shower? I'll tell you. Cambria has a fondness for all things messy. I have a lock on the pantry, a lock on the fridge, and recently put one on the baking cabinet (as required by a series of cocoa powder/marshmallow/food coloring/crystal light incidents). I thought all was safe and so I went to take a shower. I said, "Cambria, can you watch Dora while I take a shower?" She replied, "Sure." I took her at her word. Clearly, my mistake. I arrived back at the kitchen exactly 8 minutes later to find this lovely concoction. Ingredients: garlic salt, vanilla, onion powder, chicken bullion, honey, sesame seeds and cinnamon sticks. Nevertheless, I have added an additional lock. That kid...

Bag Skatin'

Busy Parent Idea #1: Bag skates. I was getting bags ready to take to Wal-Mart for recycling when the kids decided they would make perfect skates. Span of enjoyment? 30 minutes! Yes!!

No really, the dog ate my clothes!

So yesterday, the dog ate an article of clothing. I saw that is was missing from the pile and she was gagging a bit. I opened her mouth and saw nothing, so I figured it had already made its descent. I immediately headed over to my trusty friend, the internet, and set out a google search of, "can you give a dog ipecac?" Needless to say, that was not the recommended course of action. Some people said to just let it pass, but that seems a little bit dangerous to me when it's larger than a baby sock. I also found one site that said, "If you are too cheap to take your dog to the vet then you shouldn't have a dog and you need to take it to a shelter NOW!!" A bit harsh, but I get it. I, however, will not take my dog to the vet if there is something that I can do at home. I'd rather spend $2 on a remedy than $100 on a vet bill that will most likely give me the same result. Anywho, I found a site that said to give the dog a teaspoon of peroxide and it should make her puke. I figured, heck, I've got peroxide and a teaspoon wouldn't hurt to try. I gave it to her (another story in and of itself) and watched her like a hawk for about 4 minutes. Nothing. I went to the kitchen to wash the dog slobber and peroxide off my hands and heard, "Mommy, Sydney's puking all over the carpet!" Apparently 5 minutes is the appropriate amount of time to wait. My bad. Clothing retrieved, vomit removed, dog fine. Mission accomplished all for the price of about 17 cents. Thank you, I will spend the other $99.83 on something else.
